About ScandNet
For more than three decades, ScandNet AB has been part of the evolution of the internet. Founded in 1993, our company entered the digital world at a time when the web was still in its infancy. In 1995, we began acquiring domain names – long before domains became recognized as valuable digital assets – and launched our first public websites.
From the very beginning, we understood that a strong domain name was more than just an address. A memorable domain could become a brand, a destination, a business, or an entire platform. Every domain we acquired was selected with a vision and long-term purpose in mind.
Unlike companies that acquire domains purely for short-term resale, many of our domains were originally intended for development. Some became fully realized projects, while others remained carefully preserved ideas waiting for the right opportunity, timing, or partner. This long ownership history gives many of our domains a unique legacy and authenticity that cannot be replicated overnight.
Over the years, we have developed and operated projects across tourism, travel, media, business, marketing, entertainment, and city branding, often long before these industries fully embraced the internet. Our portfolio reflects decades of hands-on experience in web development, branding, marketing, search engine optimization, project strategy, media production, and digital communication.
Our background is not limited to domain ownership alone. Throughout the years, we have worked with major companies, organizations, cities, and international projects, helping develop digital platforms and strategies across multiple industries. Examples of clients and collaborations can still be viewed through our portfolio section.
A Long History of Premium Domain Ownership
ScandNet has owned and managed premium domains since the earliest commercial years of the internet.
Over time, we have successfully sold several notable domain names, including:
- » copenhagen.com
- » baltic.com
- » tallinn.com
- » wuhan.com
- » tkd.com
- » gourmetland
- » 2008.com
- » kendo.com
- » candyclub.com
…and many others over the years.
These transactions reflect not only experience within the domain industry, but also a deep understanding of branding, global markets, digital trends, and long-term domain value.
Why Legacy Matters
A domain with history carries something that newly registered domains cannot: authenticity, age, continuity, and credibility. Many of our domains have been held for decades and were acquired during the formative years of the modern internet.
In many cases, the domains were part of real development plans, destination projects, media concepts, business ventures, or international branding ideas. Some projects launched publicly, others remained internal concepts, but the vision behind them was always genuine.
This legacy becomes increasingly important in today’s digital landscape, where trust, memorability, and brand authority matter more than ever.
Built by Internet Pioneers
ScandNet’s roots go back to a time when creating websites required building nearly everything from scratch. Over the decades, we have remained active within technology, web development, online branding, content creation, SEO, database systems, photography, film production, and digital strategy.
Our experience spans from the earliest static websites of the mid-1990s to modern digital platforms and international online branding projects.
We are proud to have been part of the internet from its early days — and proud that many of the domains we acquired and protected during that era still remain in our ownership today.
Looking Forward
Today, our primary focus is offering selected premium domains from our long-held portfolio to companies, investors, startups, tourism organizations, and brands looking for strong digital identities with genuine history behind them.
A great domain name is more than a web address.
It is identity, credibility, branding, and long-term digital positioning.
And some domains carry decades of history behind them.
